Services

Visa Service:

Our Yucai Chinese School offers visa services for our students’ families and friends who wish to visit China. These are two year, multiple-entry visas to allow many visits to China over a two year period. This service is available several times a year at a cost of $180.00  per visa application. Announcements will be posted on our web-site regarding the time periods for such visa applications. Application forms will be posted.

National Testing Service:

Our Yucai Chinese School is a primary center in southern California for the administration of the YCT (Youth Chinese Test) and the Adult Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), distributed by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters of the People’s Republic of China. These are international, standards tests for all overseas students (and adults) studying Chinese.   Many of our students have passed the YCT level 1, 2, and 3.   Congratulations to all of you!!!!

To pass the YCT tests is a great accomplishment.  Later we will post the names of those students who have passed these tests.

On March 23, 2012, a YCT test was given at the Yucai Chinese School.   24 students took either YCT level 1 and / or YCT level 2 exams.  The examinations were sent to China for grading and all of our students passed.

Summer/Winter Camp Programs:

Two-week summer/winter camp programs sponsored by the Chinese government:

Principal Tian has been actively involved in the summer school programs with both the Hanban and Qiaoban (two central government educational agencies), and has conducted two week summer cultural exchanges for the past three years.  In these programs, students who have demonstrated a certain proficiency in Chinese (as evidenced by passing the YCT tests, the Chinese Culture and History test, etc.), are allowed to apply for these two week exchange programs.  If accepted, the student must pay for the air-fare to fly to China.  However, the Chinese government pays all of the other expenses of the two-week stay in China, including hotels, meals, educational activities, and touring. These programs are attended by 250 to 300 students from many countries, who gather together to study Chinese, learn about Chinese culture, get to know each other, and tour various regions of China.

These summer programs are sought after by many children around the United States. This summer  (July/August, 2012) Principal Tian was the director of 37 students from 14 states who traveled to Kunming, China (Yunnan Province in the southwest part of China) for two weeks of summer camp consisting of learning the Chinese language, history, geography, poetry, calligraphy, martial arts, and other cultural enrichment activities, and touring throughout the region.  Photos will be posted soon under the Events tag at the left side.

Two-Week Cultural Exchange Program:

The Yucai Chinese School has signed Sister School agreements with various elementary schools in China.  Some of these schools are “boarding” schools.  Arrangements are being made for American students, 12 years and older, in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, to visit Chinese schools and spend two weeks attending some Chinese classes, visiting with Chinese students their own age, learning about Chinese custums, traditions, and culture, and touring the local area.  To participate in these Two-Week Cultural Exchange program, students (with the support of their families) must commit to an intensive study program and be able to pass the YCT test at a proficiency level of 4.  Additionally, since this is not a government-sponsored program, all fees and expenses must be paid for by the students and their families.  The approximate cost is about $3000, including air-fare, visa fees, and expenses in China (hotels, meals, transportation, etc.).  At some time in the fall of 2012, posts will be made to our web-site about “fund-raising” efforts to support this cultural exchange program.

Advanced One-month Scholarship Program:

For more advanced students in the 9th through 12th grades, who have demonstrated proficiency in Chinese, a one-month study abroad program can be arranged. This program will provide an opportunity for students to spend a month attending a well-known Chinese university to learn more of the Chinese language, culture, and customs, as well touring and sight-seeing. All expenses, except for the airfare, are paid by the Chinese government.

Community Services:

Since one of our missions is to become involved in community activities, we allow our students to volunteer to participate in various programs and civic events throughout the year.  Such activities include, reciting poetry, singing, dancing, and even martial arts. These activities will also be announced on our website, and usually involve extra practice (see the Campus Life tab for events and photos).

Yucai Chinese Store:

In the fall of 2012, we will offer tuition payments via our website, using PayPal, Visa, Master Card, or American Express. In our store we will feature the latest Chinese costumes, Yucai Chinese School T-shirts, pull-overs, and other items related to our campus and our activities.
